Primary Education in Malaysia
Primary education in Malaysia is mandatory, where bilingual public schools, private schools, and home educators coexist. Following uncontrolled preschool education, a kid attends primary school at the age of seven for a six-year period and will graduate at the age of twelve. Following their schooling in their preferred community language, they must take a primary school achievement test to be eligible to continue their education.
Primary school in Malaysia is the continuation of pre-school education. Furthermore, primary school students are taught literacy skills such as reading, writing, and spelling, which they may use throughout their life. They will also get the opportunity to hone soft skills such as focus, time management, multitasking, teamwork, and many more. They will be taught Science, Physical Education, Islamic Studies and Moral Education in addition to reading, writing, and counting. Year 6 students will take the Primary School Evaluation Test at the end of their studies (UPSR). This will assess:
• Level of understanding, writing, and speaking capabilities in Bahasa Malaysia and English
• Mastery of mathematical concepts
• Mastering science concepts
• Curriculum achievement such as sports and leadership
